Sewing Machine Service Day - 22nd February 2025 - Machine booking
Regular price £0.00This is a listing for booking the Sewing Machine Services by John Hughes of Graham Hughes Sewing on 22nd February 2025. All machines must be booked in before drop-off.
You must drop off your machine between now and 22 February (or earlier by prior arrangement).
Your machine will be ready for collection as soon as it's been serviced on 22nd February 2025 but they will be available for collection by 10 am on Monday 24th February 2025 at the latest.
Cost:
1) Mechanical sewing machine £55
2) Overlocker and computerised machine £65; for the computerised machine, only the mechanical part will be looked at, and they will not be able to work on computer programming for your machine.
You do not have to pay on booking, but you must make payment directly to Graham Hughes Sewing, either by cash, bank transfer, or cheque. They will not be able to accept card payments.
Please label your machine with your name, contact number (in case the technician would like to discuss your machine with you) and any specific fault(s) you would like them to look at (excluding programming issues/computer issues). Please note that this is a mobile sewing machine service, and we can look at minor faults/issues with the sewing machine, but if your machine has a known fault (already diagnosed by another company) and needs specific repairing done in a workshop, this might not be suitable for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us before booking.
Once we receive your order and cleared payment, we aim to ship it within 2–3 working days.
We currently dispatch orders on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only.

How are fabrics sold?
You can choose the length you need when ordering.

For quilting cotton, a quarter metre can be cut as a Fat Quarter or a Long Quarter

For dressmaking fabrics, a quarter metre will be cut as a Long Quarter
Fabric measurement guide:

ONE Fat Quarter = approx. 50cm x 55cm

ONE Long Quarter = approx. 25cm x width of fabric

ONE Half metre = approx. 50cm x width of fabric

ONE 0.75 metre = approx. 75cm x width of fabric

ONE 1 metre = approx. 100cm x width of fabric
Can I get fabric in a continuous length?
Yes! Unless otherwise stated, all multiple units will be cut and sent in one continuous piece.
What is a Fat Quarter?
A Fat Quarter is a quarter metre of fabric cut to approximately 50cm x 55cm—wider and shorter than a standard long strip. It’s great for quilting and smaller craft projects.

Are retreat payments refundable?
Retreat payments are non-refundable. However, you can transfer your place to someone else — just let us know their details.
What if Purple Stitches cancels the retreat?
You’ll receive a full refund if we cancel the event.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — we strongly recommend that all retreat participants take out travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
